WLAN Infrastructure

Zentek (formerly Provideo Management, Inc.) successfully designed and deployed a Cisco Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) solution for a Federal Agency at their Headquarters in Washington, D.C., one of their large  Processing Centers located in the South West and at Technical Operations Centers in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

The project involved providing an indoor and outdoor wireless access point (WAP) design, installation, and configuration that facilitated communications between disparate locations and the Agency’s datacenter facilities. This new architecture accommodated roaming users, portable network devices, and facilities where the existing infrastructure was inadequate or the cost of cabling was prohibitive. The implementation of our WLAN solution leveraged the IEEE 802.11 standard, and specified an over-the-air interface between a wireless client and a base station or between two wireless clients, facilitating access to the data network for user mobility, last mile connectivity, network redundancy, and as an alternative when fiber or copper is cost prohibitive.

The WLAN project/solution included Site Surveys; Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) delivering centralized security policies and wireless intrusion prevention system (IPS) capabilities, RF management, and quality of service (QoS); Mobility Services Engines (MSE) with Adaptive Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) and Context-Aware Services; WAPS supporting 802.11a/b/g/n with CleanAir Technology; and Prime Infrastructure.
